Miss First Year 2017

The annual talent competition known as “Miss First Year” was held in the school gym on October 4th. Run by the Leaving Certs this competition featured a total of 6 first year students – one from each of the 1st year classes – who had successfully come through the auditions and now performed in front of the whole school. The students were all very talented and the acts included singing, Irish dancing, Indian dance, playing the flute and gymnastics. The judges commented on how difficult it was to make a final decision! The overall winner was Niamh Holohan from Class 1C who gave us all a brilliant performance of her gymnastics skills. Well done to Niamh and to everyone involved – the finalists on the day and all who took part in the auditions. The runners-up were: Leslie Hughes, Lucy O’Sullivan, Eden Penfold, Megan Purcell and Rosemaria Saijan. Part of the show involved a performance by the winner of Miss 1st Year 2012 Lolley Sinyan. Now a 6th year student Lolley brought the house down with her performance of “Proud Mary”. By popular request she also sang the song with which she won the competition 5 years ago “Hallelujah”. It was a great afternoon of entertainment for the entire school and an excellent way of welcoming the new 1st year students to the school.
